Ethics

Selection of production sites
All of the ACOS production sites are chosen on the basis of their ability to satisfy specific requirements in terms of organisation, plant installations, health/sanitary conditions, and ethical and environmental sustainability.
The agricultural companies in ACOS's network prioritise eco-compatible agricultural techniques and use state-of-the-art equipment for product processing (cleaning, stone removal, grading, brushing and visual selection) and packaging.
Each production site has a Quality Control service that operates according to ACOS procedures.

Responsibility

We are deeply convinced that a world-class company, in addition to being interested in profit, has a duty to monitor the impact of its activity in areas that lie outside the economic sphere.
Long-term economic sustainability is only possible if a fundamental prerequisite is met: corporate ethics. Our fundamental values are:
- maximisation of the value supplied to the customer;
- confidentiality;
- respect for and valorisation of personnel, suppliers, business partners and, in general, all stakeholders.
- respect for environment.

Ethics     

In Acos production sites the determination to guarantee to the workers acceptable living conditions was one of the founding principles of all the Acos production unit worldwide. It is therefore one of the company's long-term strategic objectives to obtain Social Accountability 8000 certification.
Acos commits to promote, throughout the supply branch, respect for all, lack of discrimination of any kind whatsoever and attention to workplace safety.
The guidelines for Acos production site social responsibility are:
- never to employ underage labour;
- never to resort to forced labour;
- to guarantee a risk-free environment and the health of workers;
- to avoid any discrimination whatsoever on the basis of sex, race, religion, etc.
- not to use corporal punishment, physical or mental coercion or verbal abuse;
- to guarantee a salary appropriate to satisfying basic needs;
- to calculate salaries equitably.

Acos school in Ethiopia

Acos has also established a Primary Schools near to the agricultural cooperatives. This will provide the workers’ children with access to primary schooling, something that today is rare, thus also encouraging the social development of the community.
